Shaking the Money Tree - Funding at NSF
Lecturer: Judy Vance - NSF
Original Air Date: Friday, March 7th at 2:00pm
Abstract: The National Science Foundation supports research in science and engineering which encompasses a broad range of disciplines including biology; computing; geosciences; mathematics and physical sciences; social, behavioral and economic sciences; education and human resources; and engineering. Cross directorate and NSF-wide opportunities are becoming increasingly available which support research at the intersection of various disciplines. New funding opportunities are emerging that seek multidisciplinary research that has the potential for paradigm-changing science and engineering outcomes. This presentation will explain the structure of NSF and the proposal review process, present budget history of the foundation and outline opportunities for funding in a variety of areas, including Engineering Design. Attendees will gain a better understanding of the NSF organization and the peer-review process that is a cornerstone of the Foundation’s activities.
