LNG: The Future of Gas

Lecturer: Jon Bloom - Exxon Mobil

Original Air Date: Friday, February 23rd at 2:00pm

Abstract: Natural gas is the world's fastest-growing source of energy. Gas supplies are plentiful worldwide, but the largest resources are generally located far from the markets that need them. Thanks to recent advances in technology, these resources can be super-cooled and liquefied, then shipped in massive tankers to markets around the world. When the tankers reach their destination, the LNG can be regassified and shipped to consumers via pipelines. This presentation discusses the important role LNG will play in meeting the world's future energy needs, the regulatory environment required for success, and the outstanding safety performance of the industry.
