Mechanical Engineering Professor Ali Mosleh and his wife Dr. Azar Nazeri, ME Visiting Professor, attended a reception at the White House on June 5, 2012, to recognize his membership on the U.S. Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board.  The annual reception is held to honor the service of presidential appointees to national commissions and advisory boards.  Mosleh, who is also director of the Center for Risk and Reliability and Nicole Jurie Kim Chair, said he is “delighted that the president has acknowledged the important role that the U.S. Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board plays in addressing a critical challenge facing the nation.”

The U.S. Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board was established by Congress in 1987 to provide oversight of the scientific and technical activities related to packaging, transportation, and disposal of high-level radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel in the United States.  Mosleh was appointed to the board by former President George W. Bush in 2004 and continues to serve in the President Obama Administration.
